PA Spotlights

The SSFS Parents' Association (PA)—made up of all parents and guardians—is an inclusive, welcoming community with one primary goal: to assist in upholding the singular and extraordinary spirit of Sandy Spring Friends School. Our amazing Parents Association members are the key to building and strengthening our community each year. Below, please see featured interviews with of the PA leadership team!

PA Spotlight: Ivy Debrah

Ivy Debrah and her family joined the SSFS community in 2021, drawn by its deep-rooted Quaker values of simplicity, peace, integrity, community, equality, and stewardship. She began volunteering even before her children officially started at SSFS—as soon as they received the admission letter! Ivy is the PA Clerk this year (2024-2025); she served as  Auction Committee clerk for the past three years, while actively volunteering at all PA-led events. Ivy says, "Volunteering allows me to actively participate in [my children's] educational experience, stay connected with other families, and contribute to the vibrant culture of SSFS. It’s a way to learn, grow, and make a meaningful impact on our school community."
