Important Tips re: Gift Cards:

  • Be aware of “use by” dates. Try to support businesses offering cards without an expiration date.
  • Make sure Gift Cards are transferrable! This mostly applies to virtual cards.
  • If a Gift Card requires the name  (and/or email) of a recipient in advance, keep it vague, for example: “To: SSFS Winning Bidder” and use YOUR email. As the purchaser, this will help identify whom to contact if there is an issue.
  • Need an idea on a local business to support that offers gift cards? Search businesses by zip code offering gift cards/e-gift cards at:

Thank you for your support!

The Sandy Spring Friends School Parent Association (SSFS - PA) invites you to support its 2020 Auction taking place Saturday, May 9, 2020. This annual event raises funds for students in need of financial assistance. Our 2020 theme is “Glowing Together – Spotlight On Our Scholars,” which embraces our school ideals of community, academic growth, and nurturing the light within all our students.

SSFS is a progressive, coed, college preparatory Quaker school in Sandy Spring, MD, serving students from age three through 12th Grade. Founded in 1961, SSFS offers a deep and rigorous academic curriculum, character education rooted in universal Quaker principles, and a diverse and international student body that reflects today’s global community. Nearly 40% of SSFS students receive tuition assistance, supported by funds raised by the PA Auction.

We proudly foster a culture of giving back at SSFS. Many of our accomplishments highlight global stewardship and service, including:

  • Our annual community-wide Shoebox Holiday Gifts Charitable Project organized by Upper School students to benefit So Others Might Eat, a DC-based charity providing meals, clothing, shelter, & more to those in need.
  • Our Young World Leaders program, convened in partnership with Georgetown University, where students focus on cultural immersion, leadership, diplomacy, social entrepreneurship and business skills.
  • Our signature Intersession trips are educational experiences, often service-oriented, which present students with a cultural, physical, educational, intellectual, and/or creative challenge in a group setting.

Help shine the spotlight on our scholars by donating a product, service, or gift certificate that can be auctioned off at our event! In recognition of your support, and as a promotional opportunity for your company, your business name will be listed in our program (~ 250 guests expected), and, if applicable, linked to through the online auction pages on the SSFS website ( We invite you to learn more about our extraordinary SSFS community online.

Please complete the ONLINE Auction Donation Form or print and return the hard copy Donation Form by May 15, 2020.

When you support the SSFS PA Auction, you are saying YES to a school, values, and approach to raising and educating children that collectively has the power to foster, shape and launch the global change agents of our future. We cannot do it without you, so thank you in advance for supporting Sandy Spring Friends School!
