MLK Jr. Day of Service
Join Us in Service: MLK Jr. Day At SSFS!
Monday, January 15, 2024
RSVP NOW to join us for Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service - January 15, 2024
Meet for breakfast in Westview Dining Hall at 9:00 AM
Activities will begin at 10:00 AM (various locations on campus)
Each year, on the third Monday in January, Sandy Spring Friends School joins the nation in service and reflection to celebrate Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. We are planning a student-run conversation on social justice and a number of service projects tailored to everyone’s comfort level and varied participation goals – there will be in-person hands-on activities, drop-off activities, and hybrid options. Collection opportunities will run before and after Monday’s Day of Service to provide opportunities for families who are not on-site on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day to contribute.
To volunteer or ask questions, please reach out to the MLK Day of Service Co-Clerks, Dara Ballow-Giffen, Hilary Phillips, and Kate Lawrence.
Let us know you’re coming! And please sign up to help with set-up, clean-up, or delivery tasks - and note that Upper School students can get service learning hours for their participation throughout the day! Sign up to participate in the potluck breakfast.
Collection Opportunities: Starting Mon., Jan. 8
