The Arthur Douglas Farquhar Endowed Scholarship Fund supports our scholars by providing need-based financial aid.

Established by Shawn and Chris Uzzell, alongside the Class of 2020, in loving memory of Ben Uzzell '20 the Ben Uzzell '20 Memorial Endowed Scholarship supports an upper school student who, like Ben, embodies exuberance, humor, and love of community.

Established by the Clouse Family (Marian, Melvin, Thomas, Pippa '19, and Jensen '21), the Clouse Family Endowed Scholarship Fund, supports deserving lower school student(s) of diverse backgrounds (ethic, racial, or social) enrolled at Sandy Spring Friends School who have demonstrated financial need.

Established by Irwin and Laura Feuerstein, in honor of Harvey Feuerstein, grandfather of Alan '04 and Jason '05 Feuerstein, to celebrate Harvey's passion and accomplishments playing the saxophone and clarinet. 

The purpose of the Fund is to attract and retain talented musicians to Sandy Spring Friends School. The Fund will provide annual financial support to a qualified student enrolled at the School who meets the following criteria: 

• Enrolling/rising ninth grader
• Demonstrates a passion and aptitude for saxophone and/or clarinet

This scholarship is renewable on an annual bases for enrolled students who maintain good academic and disciplinary standing, and continue playing the saxophone or clarinet for Sandy Spring Friends School.

Established by Norman St. Amour and Laifong Leung, in honor of their son, Ian Joseph St. Amour '12.

The purpose of this Fund is to encourage underrepresented individuals in the sciences and encourage them to pursue STEM opportunities. The renewable scholarship supports a qualified students enrolled at the School who meets the following criteria: 

• Rising/enrolling upper school student of diverse background (ethical, racial, and/or social) who displays an interest and aptitude in STEM
• Student has demonstrated commitment and dedication to sustained academic achievement
• Student has financial need as determined by the School's financial aid application process

This scholarship is renewable on an annual bases for enrolled students who maintain good academic and disciplinary standing, and continue pursuing STEM opportunities.

Established by Herbert and Betsie Kinney to honor their son Jon Brian Kinney, this scholarship supports SSFS students who are Members of Religious Society of Friends with demonstrated financial need.

The Lexi Speight Endowed Scholarship Fund was established in loving memory of Lexi Speight, an an exuberant and hilariously funny 8-year-old Sandy Springer, who tragically lost her life to liver cancer. 

Through Laps for Lexi, the Speight family is giving other children and their families hope. Since Lexi's death in 2010, over 8,000 people participated in the Laps for Lexi annual 5K run/walk that raises money for both pediatric cancer and a scholarship in Lexi's name. In the past 12 years, Laps for Lexi has raised over $1.3M for Children's National Medical Center - Lexi Speight Chair in Pediatric Oncology and the Lexi Speight Endowed Fund Scholarship at Sandy Spring Friends School.

Lexi's Fund—made possible by generous individual donors and Laps for Lexi—provides tuition assistance annually to Lower School students of diverse ethnic, racial, and/or social background.

Established by Phil Schwarz '63 to honor the musical talent and passion of his late mother, the Binger-Schwarz Endowment Fund supports SSFS in hosting the SBP Memorial Concert, a professional concert for the SSFS and broader Sandy Spring community.

The Fund recognizes Eduardo and the countless students whose lives he has influenced by supporting student activities that develop and nurture leadership potential, inspiring students to turn promise into practice and serve as a catalyst for change.

The Hallowell Endowment is Sandy Spring Friends School's general endowment, which releases unrestricted funds in support of the School's needs. A well-managed, significant endowment guarantees a school’s financial stability in perpetuity. A strong endowment offers a reliable source of income for financial aid, programmatic support, faculty professional development, and the latest equipment, technologies, and resources. It obviates the need for dramatic tuition fluctuations, and allows a school to plan ahead thoughtfully and carefully. As a young school, SSFS is in the beginning stages of building an endowment that will carry the School forward for generations to come. Contributions to the Hallowell Endowment make a wonderful statement of care for SSFS's future!

Established by Michael Schaps '92, the purpose of the Nancy Stallings and Bill Keim Endowment Fund is to support a discretionary fund to be used by SSFS dorm staff as they see fit to help meet dorm students' unexpected needs, to support the emotional wellbeing of dorm students, and to enhance the community spirit of the boarding program. The intent is to help bring joy and comfort to the lives of form students, in the spirit of former SSFS Director of Community Life and Director of Boarding, Nancy Stallings, and Associate Head for Academics, Bill Keim.

The Fund was established by Dr. Rodney Glasgow, in conjunction with the Glasgow Group, in honor of Dr. Glasgow’s historic appointment as the first Black Head of School, and for his unstinting commitment to cultivating a sense of belonging for students of color and LGBTQ+ students. 

The purpose of this Fund is to support students of color, LGBTQ+ students, and initiatives that foster a sense of belonging for these students at Sandy Spring Friend School.

The Tuition Endowment Fund supports the school's 5.4 million dollars in financial aid awards that benefit ~260 students each year.  This fund ensures that the SSFS experience remains accessible for well-deserving students.
