In partnership with a non-profit organization called the Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay, a small group of our eighth grade students along with two faculty members were escorted by boat to a part of Seneca Creek. The students worked diligently on picking up a large amount of trash left behind by picnickers, and the volunteers from the organization could not have been more complimentary with regards to their work-ethic and the amount of clean-up they were able to accomplish in a short period of time.
The remainder of the eighth graders remained back on campus to work under the supervision of the PE Department on the implementation of a very successful Field Day for the Lower School. The overcast skies kept things cool for hours of hard work and play. Many hands did make light work, and both young and not so young had a great day together.
