The 2024-2025 academic competition season ended for Sandy Spring Friends School’s Quiz Bowl Team at the Interface Media Group (IMG) studios on Sunday, April 6. The 'Beests bowed out nobly, finishing second in the championship match of TV’s It’s Academic, recognized by the Guinness Book of World Records as the longest-running quiz program in TV history.
With an overall record of 32-7-0 across all interscholastic formats of play, SSFS once again finished fittingly among the top academic programs in the Metropolitan DC area, distinguishing itself as “an ideal setting for intellectual contemplation, diverse extracurricular pursuits, and personal growth.” En route, this year’s Quiz Bowl Team earned the following accolades:
- Advanced to the It’s Academic Championship Match
- It’s Academic Silver Medalists
- Advanced to MABL Championship Round
- MABL Bronze Medalists
Congratulations to this year’s Quiz Bowl Team, led by Captain Diego Zein '25, Assistant Captain Justin Carr '26, Nate Miles '26, Ian Donohue '26), and Steve Kim '26. This group’s collective efforts this season (32-7-0) have extended the Quiz Bowl Team’s overall program record to a remarkable 359-146-7 since the 2013-2014 school year.
