S.O.M.E. Holiday Shoebox Gifts 2025-2026

It is a joy and a meaningful affirmation of who we are as a Friends school to share the results of this year’s Class of 2028 charitable project: the S.O.M.E. Holiday Shoebox Gifts initiative.

In a year marked by reflection, resilience, and renewed connection, our SSFS community stepped forward with a spirit that beautifully embodies the Quaker testimonies of Simplicity, Peace, Integrity, Community, Equality, and Stewardship (S.P.I.C.E.S.). Guided by these values, the Class of 2028 embraced the project with remarkable care and intention.

With the overwhelming support of our beloved SSFS community, our sophomores collected enough brand-new personal items—each selected with dignity and usefulness in mind—to assemble over 170 individually and beautifully wrapped holiday shoebox gifts, along with 10 bags of assorted clothing items and toiletries for unhoused men, women, and children.

Equally inspiring as the sheer scope of participation was the thoughtful preparation behind each contribution. Students worked together to sort donations, curate items, and ensure that every shoebox conveyed not only practical support but also warmth, respect, and a moment of joy for its future recipient. The festive wrapping, intentional presentation, and overflowing generosity reflected a deep understanding of the humanity at the heart of service.

In a time when acts of care resonate more profoundly than ever, the Class of 2028 has offered a vivid reminder that our community’s strength is woven from many small gestures multiplied by many hands. Their work affirms the enduring truth that service is both an offering and a blessing—and that hope grows when we choose to lift others.
