Quiz Bowl Team Advances to "It's Academic" Playoffs - Fall 2024

On Saturday, September 28, the SSFS Quiz Bowl Team demonstrated continued academic excellence by advancing to the playoffs for the tenth time in twelve years on It’s Academic, which is recognized by the Guinness Book of World Records as the longest-running quiz program in TV history.

SSFS scored 615 points in defeating Churchill High School (450 points) and Whitman High School (440 points) to advance to the It’s Academic playoffs. Represented by Captain Diego Zein '25, Assistant Captain Justin Carr '26, and Nate Miles '26, and supported by varsity teammates Ian Donahue '26, Steve Kim '26, and our beloved 'Beest mascot and club member Catherine Risen '27, SSFS continues to distinguish itself as an institution of academic excellence.

From a field of 81 schools, SSFS now finds itself fittingly among an elite group of 27 teams vying for It’s Academic bragging rights in the show’s world record-setting 64th season. Next up, SSFS will compete in the It’s Academic quarterfinals.
