AP African-American Students Host "Lunch and Learn" Sessions in February

Upper School students, faculty, and staff were invited by Anthony Perdue's AP African American Studies class to attend four "Lunch and Learn" sessions this February. The sessions, held in the 3rd Floor Commons space of the Upper School Pen Y Bryn building during Upper School lunch/community time (12:40-1:15 PM), were designed to provide a platform for the AP African American Studies students to share their Independent Student Project research with the SSFS community and to celebrate Black History Month by engaging in critical dialogue about Black History with topics chosen and curated by the students.

The Lunch and Learns operated as panel discussions, with students as the experts on their chosen topics that they wanted to share with the community. After each student introduced themselves and their topic, Anthony asked the panel of students a series of questions related to their study, which was followed by an open Q&A session with attendees.

Many thanks to US History teacher Anthony Perdue for organizing the sessions, to the student participants, and to the attendees!

Or, as Springers call them, "Gnu Stories"

Since our mascot is the wildebeest—also called "gnu"—our community newsletter is similarly named and shares the stories of the inspiring people, purposeful programming, and energizing events that fill our lives throughout the year.
