SSFS provides all the needed school technology like iPads and Chromebooks. All apps and other needed technology will be provided by the school.
Middle school students will continue to have family-owned iPads for daily school use. Rising 6th - 8th grade students can continue to use the iPads they currently own. New students to the Middle School will be expected to purchase an iPad for school use (see iPad system requirements).
Our Upper School has a Bring Your Own Device program, also known as "BYOD." All students in the Upper School must have a mobile device available on a daily basis for school work. This device can be an iPad, Windows laptop, Mac laptop, Chromebook, Android tablet, or other similar device. Because of its keyboard and screen size, a mobile phone is not considered an adequate device for school. The device must meet these minimum requirements.
Purchasing and Repair Options
Device purchase: All family-owned iPads or BYOD devices will need to be purchased from an outside retailer. As a convenience for our families, SSFS has worked with the company DSR that can provide SSFS-approved devices for students. Contact email@example.com or call 410-579-4508 and tell them you are from SSFS.
It is extremely important to purchase good protective cases for these devices and also a service plan for getting the devices repaired should it become damaged. A service plan like AppleCare or Worth Avenue is strongly recommended.
Loaner Program: SSFS has an iPad loaner program that is used to help students maintain their mobile device used for school work while their iPad is being repaired. An iPad will be loaned to students for up to two weeks during this repair cycle. All students have access to this program.
Device repair: SSFS will continue to provide device service support for iPads purchased through the School in years prior to the 2016-2017 school year. SSFS does not offer repair services for devices that were not purchased through the School.
Lower School Extended Care Fees 2019-2020
Fees depend on the number of days your student is registered. The Lower School Aftercare Program through Kids After Hours is $4350 per student for full-time, full-year use 5 days a week. Families have the ability to select individual days of the week at a reduced rate. Drop-in rates for aftercare and full day care services are also available if needed. More information and online registration is available on the Kids After Hours website.
Middle School Aftercare Fees 2019-2020
The Middle School Aftercare Program is $2220 per student for the full academic school year and may also be prorated for sport seasons and individual days of the week. Drop-in rates for aftercare and full day care services are also available if needed. Registration is available through MyBackPack.
