Aftercare (LS)-Kids After Hours FAQs
- How does my child get to Kids After Hours (KAH) after school?
- How do I sign my child up for KAH?
- Does KAH offer “drop-in” services?
- What activities are at KAH?
- What does a full day at KAH look like?
We are located in the Tanglewood (4th/5th Grade) Lower School building. All KAH fourth and fifth graders walk upstairs to the fifth grade common space to check in with a counselor. Kindergarten through third-grade students line up at the back door of the Lower School with KAH counselors and are walked over no later than 3:20 pm. Preschool students are in a classroom inside the Lower School until 4:00 pm.
Even if you don’t regularly use KAH for aftercare, we recommend that all Lower School SSFS families pre-register for drop-in KAH services via the Kids After Hours website (see #2, above) in case you are running late, want to use KAH on an inclement weather day, or simply need a last-minute drop-in.
If you would like your child to drop into KAH, please send an email to Adrienne with KAH , to LS Admin Assistant Pam Gilmer, and to your child’s classroom teacher. We request that you send your notification several hours before dismissal time to allow adequate time for communication and to ensure a smooth transition for your child to KAH after school.
If you need to use drop-in services and have not already registered, please send an email to all those listed above, and register your child on kidsafterhours.com before picking them up.
On SSFS professional days and other full-day KAH days, we open at 8:00 am. Breakfast is served from 8:00-10:00 am. After cleaning up, we go outside for free play until lunchtime. Students bring their lunches (they must be peanut and tree-nut free). Preschool students have nap time from 1:00-2:00 pm. Afternoon activities are scheduled to end by 5:30; students have free-play from 5:30-6:30 pm.
