2015-2016: Back-to-Back Champions!
SSFS Baseball Team Wins PVAC Conference and Tournament Titles in 2015 and 2016

2016 PVAC Season and Tournament Champs

Congratulations to the Upper School baseball team, who finished the 2016 season 13-2 overall and undefeated in league play, earning them the PVAC Championship title for the second straight year. Washington Post's Gabe Hiatt covered the team's successful season in the AllMet article, "Zain Bamji leads Sandy Spring Friends to second straight PVAC baseball title" which can be found online here. The article begins,
"With a high leg kick that set off a devastating array of curveballs, sliders and fastballs, Sandy Spring Friends right-hander Zain Bamji saved his best for last in the Potomac Valley Athletic Conference championship Wednesday at Shirley Povich Field in Bethesda.

Bamji carried a no-hitter into the fifth inning before settling for a one-hitter in the Wildebeests’ 2-0 win, their second straight conference title. His dominance left St. Anselm’s hitters twisted in off-balance swings or vacantly staring at perfectly painted corners." Read more here...
