Remembering Friends

Curt Moffatt

It is with deep sadness that we share the news that Curt Moffatt—father of Josh ’02 and Jamie ‘00, and former SSFS Board Clerk and Trustee—passed away suddenly on December 28, 2018.

Second Annual "State of the School"

On Thursday, January 31, Board Clerk Kip Imlay '71 and his fellow Trustees welcomed SSFS community members for a brief presentation on the work of the Board of Trustees and a presentation on mind-brain education by Assistant Head of School David Hickson, followed by a Q&A session.

Farewell, Ted!

While we wish that he could stay with us forever, the SSFS community wishes Ted McAdams the very best of luck in his future endeavors as he announces his retirement at the conclusion of the 2018-19 school year.

Farewell, Bob!

We knew the day would eventually come that we would have to say goodbye to Bob Hoch who, after 40 years of service to Sandy Spring Friends School, will retire from the classroom at the conclusion of the 2018-19 academic year.

Introducing SSFS’s Next Lower School Head

In November we announced that Lower School Head Brenda Crawley would be leaving SSFS at the end of the 2018-19 school year to become Head of School at Plymouth Meeting Friends School in Plymouth Meeting, Pennsylvania. While we are sad that Brenda will be leaving us, we are thrilled to report that SSFS’s very own Director of Lower School Admissions Liza Long will be stepping into Brenda’s place as Lower School Head on July 1, 2019.

Upper School Groundbreaking

On Monday, November 12, students, faculty, family, and friends gathered to celebrate the long-awaited groundbreaking of the new Upper School building!
