Transportation & Extended Care
Sandy Spring Friends School offers option bus transportation for the convenience of our parents. Bus routes are offered in Montgomery, Howard, and Prince George’s counties and in Washington, DC, for students starting in kindergarten through 12th grade. Please note that the routes are determined by student need each year and are subject to change.
Buses are scheduled so that they can arrive at SSFS at or before 7:45 am; depending on the route, the first morning pick-up location is between 6:40-7:00 am.
In addition, we offer an afternoon free bus shuttle service each day for middle and upper school students participating in athletics and other after-school activities; this bus departs from the Middle School circle on campus at 5:45 pm to take students to the Glenmont and Shady Grove metro stations.
Bus RegistrationRegistration for bus sign-up for the 2021-2022 academic year will begin in mid-July via Veracross. SSFS accepts bus registrations on a space-available basis. See the transportation update email sent to all families on July 14.
