Notification Deadline For SSFS
Applications submitted after the priority application deadline are considered on a space-available basis.
STEP 1: Apply Online and Submit Forms Electronically
SSFS is one of the DC-area schools using a web-based application called Ravenna for the submission of online applications. Ravenna allows you to efficiently apply to schools, submit forms electronically, and track the status of your application online. Families are encouraged to create a Ravenna account, then select the "Washington, DC" area from the dashboard and click on Sandy Spring Friends School. This will give you access to our online application, as well as school record requests, teacher recommendation forms, and other documents
For 2nd grade to 5th grade applicants, SSFS requires both a Reading and Math teacher recommendation, however, they can submit one if they have the same teacher for both subjects.
STEP 2: Testing Requirements
2nd-5th grade applicants are required to take the WISC-V. See Testing Centers here.
STEP 3: Schedule a School Visit And Interview
Applicants will spend time during a school day shadowing a host student on campus. Once your application has been submitted, you will be able to schedule both the shadow visit and parent interview through your Ravenna account. The parent interview is generally a 30-minute appointment for us to learn more about your child and to answer any questions you may have.
Additional Step: Financial Aid
Our financial aid program* and our various payment options strive to help make attending Sandy Spring Friends School a reality for as many families as possible. We offer need-based financial aid grants to offset the cost of tuition. Families seeking financial assistance are encouraged to apply for financial assistance as soon as they have completed the admission application.
