Early Exploration • 8:10 AM–8:30 AM
Preschool students explore the classroom and get ready to start the day.
Morning Meeting • 8:30 AM–9:00 AM
Teachers bring the classroom together for morning greetings and to discuss the schedule for the day.
Pre-Academics or Co-Curricular Activities • 9:00 AM–10:00 AM
Depending on the day, preschoolers may participate in a pre-academic play-based activities, or they may attend co-curricular classes in Spanish and Music ( offered twice a week).
Snack and Outside Time • 10:00 AM–10:30 AM
Preschoolers enjoy a health snack and then spend some time outside for unstructured play on our natural playground!
Physical Education or Pre-Academics • 10:30 AM–11:00 AM
Twice a week, students participate in a physical education class that offers a variety of fun opportunities to play—including a dancing and rock wall climbing unit! On the other days of the week, students continue to build their academic skills through fun play-based activities.
Centers & Free Choice or Library* • 11:00 AM–11:30 AM
From Dramatic Play to Math and Science Centers, Preschoolers can participate in a variety of unstructured and structured activities around the classroom that help each child become more self-aware and develop their social, emotional, and academic skills. Each week, students also have an opportunity to take a trip to the SSFS library!
Lunch Time and Recess • 11:30 AM–12:45 PM
Preschoolers get ready for lunch (wash hands, use the restroom) and then visit the Westview Dining Hall for a healthy hot lunch—often featuring food from our farm. Then, it's time for more play on the playground!
Transition from Lunch • 12:45 AM–1:00 PM
As our preschoolers begin to wind down, our teachers help them transition smoothly from play time to rest time.
Rest Time+ • 1:00 PM–1:45 PM
Extended Learning • 1:45 PM–2:00 PM
During extended learning time, teachers are able to take a deeper dive into subjects explored during the week with their class.
Life Skills or Community Building • 1:45 PM–2:00 PM
Depending on the day of the week, preschoolers will attend in Meeting For Worship with the Lower School, participate in Community Time with their classroom, or build age-appropriate social and emotional life skills.
Pack Up • 2:45 PM–3:00 PM
Preschoolers get ready for dismissal by packing up all their stuff from the day.
Closing Circle • 3:00 PM–3:15 PM
Teachers bring the classroom together for one last check-in and to reflect on what the students have learned that day.
Dismissal At 3:15 PM+
*On Fridays, students participate in a Family Share time.
+Due to early dismissals on Wednesdays, students do not take a rest time. Instead, they participate in Science Centers & Exploration Time, pack up, and closing circle and are dismissed by 2:15 pm.
