Preschool Daily Schedule
A typical day in preschool includes opportunities for structured and unstructured play, child-directed learning, and outdoor exploration. Our values-based curriculum helps children develop strong social-emotional skills as they learn and play together.

Our Schedule Includes:

Free Choice/Early Exploration • 8:10 AM–9:00 AM
Preschool students explore the classroom and get ready to start the day.
Morning Meeting • 9:00 AM–9:30 AM
Teachers bring the classroom together for morning greetings and to discuss the schedule for the day.
PE Class or SHINE Class • 9:30 AM–10:00 AM
Preschoolers participate in physical education classes in the SSFS Athletic Center, or stay in the classroom for social-emotional curricular program, Shine, taught by our Lower School Counselor.
Snack and Outside Time • 10:00 AM–10:30 AM
Preschoolers enjoy a health snack and then spend some time outside for unstructured play on our natural playground!
Spanish or Academic Centers • 11:00 AM–11:45 AM
Each week, students participate in Spanish class, where they learn the Spanish language through play, music, and art. On the other days of the week, students continue to build their academic skills through fun play-based activities.
Lunch Time and Recess • 11:45 AM–12:25 PM
Preschoolers get ready for lunch (wash hands, use the restroom), and eat meals prepared by CulinArt. Then, it's time for more play on the playground!
Transition from Lunch • 12:25 PM–12:45 PM
As our preschoolers begin to wind down, our teachers help them transition smoothly from play time to rest time.
Rest Time • 12:45 PM–2:00 PM
Pack Up & Closing Circle • 2:00 PM–2:30 PM
Preschoolers get ready for dismissal by packing up all their stuff from the day. Then, teachers bring the classroom together for one last check-in and to reflect on what the students have learned that day.
Afternoon Recess • 2:00 PM–3:00 PM
Dismissal At 3:00 PM+
+Due to early dismissals on Mondays, students do not take a rest time. Instead, they participate in Science Centers & Exploration Time, pack up, and closing circle and are dismissed by 2:15 pm.
