Quotes, Quirks, and Quakerisms

There are over 70 Quaker schools across the nation. While they share key values, each community is unique. We are Sandy Spring Friends School…and this is how we do Quakerism.

Heard around campus

SSFS is a little quirky—quirky in the best way! It’s a welcoming community that constantly grows and gets better. It’s a community where you’re going to find your people.

When we ask students, staff, alums, and families to share what makes SSFS unique...

...they overflow with enthusiastic reflection. In fact, the phrase, “delightfully quirky” comes up regularly!

What does “quirky” mean, anyway?  One definition is “unusual, especially in an interesting or appealing way.”

Sounds like SSFS!

We invite you to see SSFS through the eyes of members of our community, and learn how our identity as a Friends institution meaningfully shapes every aspect of school life, giving us shared purpose, a deep sense of belonging, and—joy!
