Program description directly from their web site:
The Interfaith Clothing Centers, programs of Community Ministry of Montgomery County, distribute donated clothing, household goods, school supplies, infant items, toys and children's books, free of charge, to low-income residents of Montgomery County. We are proud to provide the link between people in our community who have things they no longer need or want with people in the same community who are in desperate need of the same items.
Needs volunteers to help sort items - call to set an appointment time to help out.

You can also try local libraries, elementary schools to read to kindergartners, churches, thrift stores, museums, small businesses you frequent, and if you like to walk on the wild side of life, the National Zoo in Washington is looking for summer volunteers, too!
