| Freshman Year |
- Work hard in school, get involved in activities that interest you, and do your best! Focus on high school, not college.

- Beginning with your freshman year, course grades are recorded on your transcript. Again, do your best!

| Sophomore Year |
- Same as above. Keep working to the best of your ability and enjoy the many interesting and fun athletic and extracurricular activities available to you at SSFS.

- Sophomores take a PSAT (Preliminary Scholastic Assessment Test) in October to familiarize the students with the format of a College Board standardized test.
|

| Junior Year
FALL & WINTER |
- Begin to consider possible college
choices.
- Consider visiting a college of interest during
an Open House date. These programs will give you
a good idea of what that particular college has
to offer.
- Attend local college fairs.

- Take PSAT at SSFS in October.
|
|
| Junior Year
SPRING |
- Attend College Night for Juniors at SSFS.
- If visiting colleges during Spring Break, plan accordingly.
- Review college guides and begin to make a "long list" of possible colleges (20-25.)
- Schedule family meeting with Vickie Garner.
- Choose colleges to visit and request info; viewbook, application, financial aid brochure.

- April, May, June SAT I and/or SAT IIs
- Register for Senior Year classes keeping in mind college requirements as well as SSFS requirements.
- May AP tests

- Applications usually not available before June.

| Junior Year
(Summer)
|
- Review college viewbooks and catalogues
- Visit colleges (if possible), participate in group information sessions, interviews and tours. Ask questions and note observations.
- List serious college options (10-12).
- Plan itinerary for fall visits to colleges and schedule interviews.

- Prepare for fall SAT I and SAT IIs, if necessary
|
- Receive applications.
- Initial campus interviews, if appropriate. (Schedule in advance.)

| Senior Year
(FALL) |
- Meet college representatives at SSFS and at local functions and fairs.
- Schedule second family meeting with Vickie Garner to discuss college choices.
- Complete college visits. (Seniors are given 3 days of excused absences for college visits.)

- October, November, and December SAT I and/or SAT II
|
- Campus interviews
- Complete application requests.
- Begin essays: if applying early, complete essays.
- Profile financial aid form available in the College Guidance Office.

(WINTER) |

|
- Mid-December: Colleges notify students of early admissions decisions.
- Bring completed applications to the College Guidance Office and give recommendation forms to teachers. All paperwork should be turned in before Winter Break begins in late December.
- Finish essays for January deadlines.
- FAFSA financial aid forms available in the College Guidance Office.
- January: Deadline for most college applications.
- Bring college forms for midyear grades to Frances Lambrecht.
- Submit financial aid documents.
- Colleges review applications.

Senior Year

- Receive admissions decision from colleges.
- Consider financial aid offers if appropriate.

- May AP tests
- Remember that grades still count.

- Colleges notify students of decisions.
- May 1 common reply date to colleges.
