Camp Descriptions
PreWeek Trippers I, II, III, and IVStart the summer off with five days of fun-filled field trips! Travel by SSFS buses to explore interesting locations. Various age appropriate trips may include exploring museums, viewing puppet shows, visiting the Baltimore Aquarium or hiking at a local park. Trips will provide hands-on activities, games, and new learning experiences. Tuition: $400
Trips Camp/Museum Trips CampTravel by SSFS bus to explore exciting locations. Age appropriate trips may include a behind the scenes tour of Camden Yards and Babe Ruth's home; visiting the Peacock Room at the Freer Gallery of Art; exploring Adventure Playground and swimming in the Germantown indoor pool; or viewing Baltimore from the Top of the World Observation Level, followed by fun at Geppi's Entertainment Museum. Tuition: $400
Photo Trips"I wish I had a camera." "I cut off the best part." Campers often lament about not having a camera or knowing how to use one. Photo Trip campers will spend several days visiting and photographing outdoor locations, such as Mount Vernon, Fort Washington and Great Falls. Campers will learn a little history while developing skills in photographing scenery. The last day or two of camp will be spent learning how to download and alter the photographs taken on the field trips. Required: A camera with at least 5 megapixels and a card with at least 500 megabytes of space. Tuition: $400
Water Trips CampWater trippers will participate in fun and educational activities such as a DC Ducks tour conducted in a vintage World War II amphibious vehicle; hiking in Cunningham Falls and Great Falls Parks; an interpretive tour around Patuxent Research Refuge's Lake Reddington to view wildlife; plus splashing in water parks and local pools. Tuition: $400
Day VenturesEnjoy fun and challenging instruction in a number of spectacular nearby areas. Day adventures may include indoor and outdoor rock climbing, rappelling, hiking, ropes course elements, challenge course games, canoeing, swimming, orienteering, horseback riding, circus arts workshops and more. Thursdays are extended days with a special activity from 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Activities will be located both on and off campus.
Woodshop JuniorParticipants create beginner projects, such as birdhouses, games, toy cars and more. Campers will learn how to use basic hand tools properly under close supervision. At the end of the week, campers will bring projects home and show them off with pride. No experience is necessary - just a willingness to learn and have fun.
Fishing CampBass, Bluegill and Trout, oh my! Travel to various waterholes to see what forms of life call these places home. Campers will learn about the ecosystems of lakes, ponds or streams and study the various species of fish that live in them. Campers will learn about water cycles and the life within a freshwater habitat while developing fishing techniques. All catches will be returned to their natural environment! Campers will seek out shady spots to beat the heat while exploring watery wonderlands. Tuition: $400; session of July 4 tuition, $320
Counselor-in-TrainingThe Counselors in Training (CITs) program is for campers who dream of one day becoming a counselor. CITs develop leadership skills, bond through use of the ropes course and personal challenge activities and take lively group field trips. CITs learn how to write a resume and participate in mock interviews. CITs spend part of each session assisting counselors with younger campers. Tuition: $560 (Two week camp); session of July 4 tuition: $504
