Parent Volunteer Information

The Lower School values the variety of contributions that parents can make to support our program. Parents are invited to assist with special projects in the classroom and to accompany classes on field trips. They are also encouraged to share their expertise, talents, and experiences with classes. Requests from the co-curricular teachers offer parents an opportunity to assist with assembly productions and field day activities. Detailed information on classroom parent participation is provided at Back-to-School Night in the early fall. Additional requests for help are often made through the Wednesday Bulletin.(Excerpt from the Sandy Spring Friends School Student Handbook)

Welcome to fourth grade! We are glad you are interested in volunteering. Here are some of the ways you can assist in fourth grade:

  • chaperone on field trips
  • participate in planning for class celebrations
  • help with class plays
  • edit and "publish" class newspapers
  • coordinate scholastic book orders
  • do a project or give a lesson in your area of interest
  • prepare for the fourth grade camping trip
  • help in the classroom on a regular basis (example: read to the kids once a week, mentor a small group interested in a particular subject)

From time to time, we will use this web site to ask for specific assistance. However, we also rely upon our room parents to contact parents in a more timely fashion. We will post the fourth grade phone trees on this page, once they have been set up.
