LIBRARIES AT SSFS
Sandy Spring Friends School now houses its 25,000+ volume
collection in two locations: The Caroline Hallowell Worth Memorial
Library
in Yarnall and the Tanglewood Library
Center in the 4th and 5th grade building of the Lower School. Librarians
are available to teach and help community members between 8 AM
and 5 PM Monday
- Friday. In addition to the books, CD's, videos, audiotapes
and other formats
available in the libraries, we subscribe to a wide variety of databases for
research that are delivered via the World Wide Web and can
be accessed by any computer
that is connected to the Internet either at home and
at school.
The libraries also feature student art and other displays. A "Room of
Requirement" in Yarnall is
used by students in US and MS as a place to study and read and and to socialize
and play board games, or, if the library has several classes using the main
room, the Room of Requirement can become a quiet study space.
Tanglewood Library Center is the primary meeting place for Lower School library
classes and storytimes as well as LS classes doing research, and some of
the students in the aftercare program.
