Learning About Japanese Schools

During the early winter months, third grade read books from the Asian culture during book clubs. One of these books, Meiko and the Fifth Treasure, was set in Japan. Our third grade classes were fortunate to learn more about Japanese culture and in particular, Japanese schools, through a visit from Kohei Sumihara, husband of Upper School ESL teacher Rae. Kohei showed the children pictures from Japanese schools, taught the children to write calligraphy, and taught them a fun game!
