2008 - 2009 BUS INFORMATION & REGISTRATION REQUEST
Take the bus during the 2008-2009 school year! We urge you to consider the ease and convenience of having your student(s) ride the bus. Sandy Spring Friends School offers bus transportation on selected routes throughout its service area. The charge is $1980 for full-year, round-trip service. Stops are scheduled at common collection points and NOT at individual homes. Buses generally leave their first morning pick-up location around 6:50am, make a number of stops and arrive at SSFS around 7:55am. Buses depart SSFS at 3:30pm and arrive at their last destination at approximately 4:35pm. We have developed a schedule that includes a larger number of afternoon stops in an effort to drop students closer to home, childcare provider or afternoon activity at a time when it is less convenient for most working parents to provide transportation.
Bus transportation is currently being offered to the following general areas surrounding Sandy Spring Friends School: Columbia/Burtonsville, Takoma Park/Silver Spring, University Park/Colesville, Chevy Chase/Bethesda, Rockville, Gaithersburg and Darnestown/Washington Grove. Please note that routes will change as ridership changes - routes may not be the same each year. If we have not offered bus service in your area before, please request a stop in your area. These requests are the only way we have of gauging where additional routes are needed. Final routes and schedules will be set before school begins.
As an added safety measure, students in the Lower School (grades five and below) will be required to have a responsible person receive them at their drop-off point. A form on which to designate such person(s) will be mailed later. Arrangements for AM or PM only, limited days or partial year are available. The cost is prorated accordingly.
