The Summer ESL @ SSFS Program is a six-week language and acculturation program for international students at the novice, intermediate, and advanced levels. The program focuses on academic English in all of the skill areas (listening, speaking, reading and writing) in preparing participants for college preparatory level coursework. Additionally, experiential learning opportunities allow students to develop and apply their English language in becoming acculturated to life, including the educational system, in the United States.

The English language learning environment includes small classes with experienced teachers at Sandy Spring Friends School, located on a 140-acre wooded campus in the historic Quaker community of Sandy Spring, Maryland mid-way between Baltimore and Washington, DC.

A certificate of completion will be issued upon successful completion of the program. No academic grades or credit will be given. Students who have been accepted to the International Student Program at Sandy Spring Friends School must attend the Summer English and Acculturation Program.
