International Student Program (ISP) & ESL Program (Grades 9-12 only)

ESL Classes

The ISP offers four levels of ESL classes, content area ESL classes, a grammar and writing workshop, and an American Culture course. Program class sizes range from 5-9 students and offer all students ample opportunity for individualized attention and instruction. ISP courses include the following:

ESL:

  • Basic ESL
  • Advanced ESL
  • ESL Composition and Literature
  • Advanced ESL Composition and Literature
  • Grammar and Writing Workshop

Content Area Courses:

  • ESL Science
  • ESL U.S. History
  • ESL World History

Students entering the ISP are given placement tests to determine their English oral and written proficiency levels. Based on the results of these tests, students are placed in the appropriate classes. Students may test at a high enough level to enroll directly into non-ESL classes for English, History and Science, but they are still enrolled as ISP students.
