SANDY SPRING FRIENDS SCHOOL FINANCIAL AID POLICY
Please note the process to apply for financial aid has changed. All documents are to be submitted to School and Student Service (SSS). Detailed instructions can be found under Financial Assistance for New and Current Families. When sending documents to SSS, it is critical that you mail a cover sheet with the documents so that SSS can correctly match your documents to your PFS. This cover sheet is a generic version; simply fill in your name and PFS ID number. You can also access a form that is pre-populated with your information when you login to your PFS Online and click on "Print Your Cover Sheet" from the left-hand menu. Mail the cover sheet and one copy of each required document to SSS.
The goal of the financial aid program is to make the Sandy Spring Friends School educational experience financially accessible to all families. Grants are made solely on the basis of financial need. Financial assistance may be available for bus transportation.
School policy requires that all parents, including stepparents, complete the PFS. SSFS requires that non-custodial parents (separated/divorced/never married) complete the same paperwork as custodial parents and submit it to Princeton for processing. It is the responsibility of the custodial parent to insure that the non-custodial parent completes the application. Both custodial and non-custodial parents must provide the required information.
The financial aid award decisions for applications received by the financial aid deadline are made in February and March. In order to financially assist as many families as possible, the School grants awards based on a percentage of full need. In the current academic year, 30% of our students benefit from the financial aid program at Sandy Spring Friends School (SSFS).
