The Seven-Day Boarding Option at SSFS includes...

• A wide range of weekend activities led by faculty members including cultural events such as Baltimore's Inner Harbor, the Renaissance Festival, Taste of D.C., dance concerts, and museum visits; sporting events such as D.C. United games and Orioles baseball; a day at Six Flags Theme Park; a weekend getaway to Philadelphia; and the ever popular trips to area shopping malls and movie theaters!

Q: Who is eligible to apply for boarding?
A: New and returning students entering grades 9 - 12 are eligible to apply to the Residential Program.

Q: What days/times are included in the five-day program?
A: Five-day boarders can arrive at school on Sunday evening after dinner and should plan to leave campus following classes on Friday.

Q: When are seven-day boarders required to be away from the dorm?
A: Seven-day boarders must stay with his/her guardian or family on three day weekends and extended vacations such as Thanksgiving, Winter Break and Spring Break.

Q: What is the typical boarding student's day like?
A: A typical boarding student's school day:

7:00 - 7:55 a.m	Breakfast
8:00 a.m. - 3:25 p.m.	Classes (except Wednesdays when classes end at 2:30 p.m.)
3:30 - 5:50 p.m.	Athletics, dance or drama rehearsals; begin homework or spend time with friends.
6:00 - 6:45 p.m.	Dinner
6:50- 7:30 p.m.	Complete dormitory jobs or clean rooms
7:30 - 7:40 p.m.	Collection (a meeting time for the whole dorm to discuss upcoming events, schedules and other pertinent issues)
7:45 - 9:30 p.m.	Study Hall (Sun. - Thurs.)
9:30 - 10:20 p.m.	Free time

* Room check and lights out are based on student age and maturity level. There are mid-week shopping trips every Wednesday and mid-week activity once a month. There are Sunday night dorm meetings twice a month.
