Technical Theatre Teacher (Part Time) - 2008-2009 School Year
The Arts Department is seeking a part-time teacher to serve as technical director for performing arts productions in a new, state-of-the-art theatre and to teach one section of a stagecraft class to students in grades 9 through 12. Performing arts at SSFS include dramatic, musical theatre, and modern dance productions, as well as arts performances and related assemblies for students at elementary, middle, and high school levels. For a qualified and interested candidate, this position could involve additional responsibility for theatre facilities management for in-house and rental events. For all positions, SSFS seeks candidates who value the importance of issues of diversity and can both share and teach differing points of view.
Qualifications: A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in technical theatre or a closely related field, is required. The ideal candidate should have significant and relevant experience with design and production activities in lighting, sound, set construction, carpentry, rigging, and scenic art in an instructional setting. Experience working with high school students his highly desirable. Knowledge of a Strand 300 computerized lighting board and an Allen & Heath GL3800 sound board are a plus. Knowledge of Windows applications, including word processing, email, and accessing Internet resources, is required. Knowledge of Quaker beliefs and practice is helpful but not required.
