Community Events
Although the 140-acre campus in Sandy Spring serves as the epicenter of the SSFS community, the presence and philosophy of the School resounds far and wide around the area, across the country, and indeed, even globally.
The immediate Community includes current students, parents, faculty, staff, and other supporters of the School.
In addition, there is an extended Community of many individuals who retain an active interest in the School even though immediate ties may no longer exist. Alumni and their parents, past faculty and former trustees, and members of the Sandy Spring Monthly Meeting of the Religious Society of Friends remain as strong advocates and supporters of the School.
Building on the strong and historic Quaker presence in the Sandy Spring area, the School also maintains active ties to programs with other local institutions in the geographic Sandy Spring-Olney community; among these are the Sandy Spring Museum, Greater Sandy Spring Greenspace, the Olney Theatre Center, and the Sandy Spring Monthly Meeting, under whose care the School operates.
In addition, faculty and students alike volunteer within local organizations on a number of community service projects or participate in special interest groups focusing on the arts, history, music and other avocations.
The SSFS community continues to be a living, growing, and caring experience, offering opportunities for the growth and service exemplified in the School's motto: "Let your lives speak."
