    Winterfest: Dec. 6, 2014

    It's time to start thinking about Winterfest, a fun and festive all-day event (10 am - 4 pm) on Dec. 6, 2014! The day features music, food, holiday greens, Fun with Frosty for the kids, fabulous local crafters selling their creations (contact Candy Kriner at if you are interested in being a vendor), and much more. Parents: save the date for the bow- and snowflake-making workshop on Tues, Nov. 18 (8:15-10:30 am), and the greens workshop on Dec. 4 from 8 am-3 pm. There are also lots of volunteer opportunities, from helping out in the Book Fair or Coffee House to working at Dad's Diner. Check out the SignUp Genius page to see how you can get involved!

    US Dance Concert and Visual Arts Show: Dec 11-13

    Save the date for the upcoming Winter Dance Concert and Art Show - Dec. 11, 12, and 13 at 7:15 pm in the Performing Arts Center. See original student dance choreography that includes dance films, shadow dance, auto-biographical dances, paint, masks, spoken word and more. The US Visual Arts Show will feature artwork from the Ceramics, Photography, Studio Arts, Advanced Studio Arts and Woodworking classes. On opening night (Dec. 11), there will be a special opportunity to hear select students talk about their work; on Dec. 12 and 13 there will be a monitor set up in the PAC lobby to view works by the Video Production class, as well.

  • SSFS China Summer Trip: June 21-July 2, 2015

    This upcoming summer, US Chinese Teacher Kexin Zhang looks to lead an enriching, culturally- immersive trip to her native, beautiful, and diverse country of China. The trip is open to current 8th graders (rising 9th graders) and families, current 9th-12th graders and families, as well as SSFS alumni, and will take place from June 21st to July 2nd, 2015. From the Forbidden City, Great Wall, and Temple of Heaven, to the Terracotta Warriors, Panda Breeding Center, and Yuyuan Garden, this will be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to visit the cities of Beijing, Chengdu, Xi’an and Shanghai with a native speaker and member of the SSFS community. To learn details regarding cost, dates, proposed travel activities, and other logistics, please see the accompanying highlights flyer, and contact Kexin at kexin.zhang@ssfs.org at your earliest convenience to express developing interest. The commitment deadline is Friday, January 16th, 2015.
